Student interview

Postgraduate School of Fine Arts Song Yi Xue

宋伊雪さん
What is the name of the university which you were accepted.
Joshibi University of art and design, in the field of Three-dimensional art.
What do you think is important for going on to University in Japan?
I think that Japanese ability, portfolio and research plan are important. That’s why you have to make your university advancement plan thoroughly. Besides, Japanese language school teachers who are expertise in fine arts will help you little by little with your portfolio. Through the work we have done so far, they will guide you to the research plan little by little and accomplish the research plan at the end. You must pay attention to what your teacher says to you. There must be reasons for the instruction of the teacher, so I think that you better try to refine your research plan as perfect as you can.
What was the most difficult thing when studying in Japan?
It was hard to do the graduation project while studying Japanese. Also, it was difficult to write the research plan and description of the work in Japanese. At first, try your best to write it by yourself and seek for help when you get lost. If you write it all in your own language and ask the teacher for help, due to the translation problem, the content may become differ from what you want to express. So, even though it is hard to accomplish it, I still suggest you write it by yourself first.
What do you think is helpful to prepare for the postgraduate school of specializing in art?
Almost all universities can be applied for a preliminary interview before applying to the postgraduate school. If there is a profession or professor that you have interest in it, you can also request an interview with the teacher before filing your application. You can ask the teacher to preview work collections and research plan beforehand, this could possibly be a chance leaving a great impression to the professor.
Please write a message to all the juniors who wish to study abroad.
First of all, I think you should try to look for something that you would never have a chance to do in China, that is the main reason why I came to Japan and explore the world.
